CLEAR (RLE) is simply one of the exciting options we that can improve not only the way you see…but also the way you life!
What is clear (rle)?
CLEAR is sometimes to referred to Refractive Lens Exchange or Clear Lens Extraction. CLEAR is simply cataract surgery without the presence of a cataract. During the CLEAR procedure, we remove your natural lens, then insert an artificial intraocular lens (IOL) custom-designed to correct your vision issues.
Our premium IOLs can correct a wide variety of refractive vision errors, making CLEAR a better solution for some patients. CLEAR also comes with low recovery demands, which means most patients can return to their everyday lives the day following their CLEAR procedure.
What Are the Benefits of
Shreveport CLEAR?
CLEAR can be an excellent option for refractive vision correction. A surprising amount of our patients have corneal problems that would disqualify them for other refractive surgeries. Some of these problems include corneal thinning, keratoconus, past injuries and scars, or dry eye. CLEAR may be an option for patients who were turned down for other vision treatments in the past.
Benefits of RLE include:
- Correction of nearsightedness, farsightedness, and presbyopia
- Elimination of the possibility of cataracts
- Long-term vision stability
- Reduced dependence on glasses or contact lenses
- A permanent solution for refractive errors
AM i a candidate for clear?
The ideal candidate for CLEAR is typically someone over the age of 45 who experiences refractive errors such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, or presbyopia, and may not be suitable for LASIK surgery. It is particularly beneficial for those who seek a permanent solution to their vision issues and who want to avoid the potential of developing cataracts in the future.
Schedule an appointment with one of our surgeons for your thorough eye examination and consultation to determine if CLEAR is the right choice for your specific vision needs!
Is CLEAR Covered By
Insurance or Medicare?
Although the advanced intraocular lenses we use in our CLEAR procedure are approved by both Medicare and the insurance industry, they are not ‘covered.’ Coverage of your CLEAR procedure will also depend on the severity of the lens changes documented during your comprehensive eye evaluation.

Lusk Light Adjustable Lens (LAL)
Lusk Eye Specialists are excited to offer the Light Adjustable Lens™ (LAL®/LAL+™) to the Ark-La-Tex community! This advanced lens technology is the first and only lens that can be customized after refractive surgery.
Fixed vs. Adjustable Lenses
With other lenses, you have to make decisions about your vision outcomes prior to your cataract or refractive lens exchange (RLE) surgery. Once implanted, those ‘fixed’ lenses cannot be changed.
The Light Adjustable Lens (LAL) is an adjustable lens. You and your surgeon have the ability to adjust the lens and optimize your sight based on your unique vision needs and lifestyle. This is truly a customizable lens option!
